미 합중국 대통령 자원봉사상 신청 안내
신청자격 : 미국 시민권자 또는 영주권자인 한인회 정회원
신청방법 : 봉사활동을 주관한 기관 및 단체의 양식에 각 일자별 봉사시간과 담당자의 확인서명을 하여 제출 (필요시 증빙서류 첨부)
신청마감 : 신청마감 2017년 1월 19일
시상식 : 2017년 3.1절 기념행사식장 (한인문화회관)

봉사한 날짜와 시간과 봉사내역이 분명해야되고 교회 목사님, 신부님이나 관계자의 확인 필요하고, 최종적으로 한인회의 확인을 받으면 됩니다.
이 사회봉사상을 추진하는 이유는 대학입학을 앞둔 고등학교 학생들이나 장학금을 신청하려는 학생들에게는 이 사회봉사상이 미국주류사회에서는 높게 평가받고 있다는 사실입니다. 미국은 자원봉사의 정신이 굉장히 뿌리깊게 자리를 잡고 있습니다.
한국계 학생들도 다른민족 학생들과 동등한 대우를 받을 권리가 있다고 생각합니다.
미국 대통령상 자원봉사의 종류 (한인회에 부여된 허가는 전체분야 망라)
1. YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT
젊은이들이 교육에 관심을 기울이도록 자원봉사하는일, 예를들면 Mentoring,
Coaching, Tutoring, Improving, Literacy in areas such as reading and finance.
2. PARKS AND OPEN SPACES
주위의 공원이나 정원을 보존하고, 이웃을 청소하고, 안전한 놀이시설을 만들기 위하여 자원봉사하는것, 안전한 환경과 천연자원을 보존하기위하여
개인적으로한 경험이나 외부활동에 자원봉사
3. HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
노인, 불구자, 병약자, 결식아동, 결식성인, 무주택자들을 위해서 자원봉사한것,
건강하고 밝은 공동체를 이루기 위하여 자원봉사한 학생이나 성인들, 예를들면
건강교육, 영양교육, 예방접종, 이력서 작성교육, 병원보조, 헌혈운동, 제대군인
도움등이 포합됩니다.
4. PUBLIC SAFETY & EMERGENCY RESPONSE
공공의 안녕질서를 위하거나 범죄, 테러, 모든종류의 천연재해로부터 개인이나
가족, 공동체를 위하여 자원봉사한 경우, 훈련을 준비, 자원소방수, 자원경찰,
이웃경계 Program에 자원봉사한것이 포함됨.
추신: (a) 예를들면 학생이 지난 일년 Soup-Kitchen에서 자원 봉사했다면 자원봉사
종류 (3: Healthy Communities)에 해당되며 봉사한 날짜와 시간 추적이 제일 쉽다고
생각합니다.
(b) 교회에서 여름방학에 VBS(Vacation Bible School)에서 자원봉사한것만으로
신청하면 Case가 가장 약하고, 거기에 Soup_Kitchen 봉사나 Mission Camp
봉사등이 포함돼야 가장 바람직 합니다.

THE AWARD
Presidential recognition sets you apart from your peers. It is a tremendous honor. Even though you may not seek recognition, your example can deliver a powerful message that encourages others to take action.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted, permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime.
CRITERIA
Individuals, families and groups that meet the criteria are eligible for the PVSA.
Recipient(s) must be a United States citizen or a lawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States.
Awards are issued for service hours served within a 12-month time period or over the course of a lifetime.
Awards are issued for volunteer service only; additional levels of participation with the organization (i.e., charitable support) are not a factor considered for the award.
Court-ordered community service does not qualify for the award.
Awards are issued by approved Certifying Organizations.
Service must be with an approved Certifying Organization that is legally established in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or one of the U.S. territories.
Eligibility
Hours are measured over a 12-month period and awards are designated based on cumulative hours. The awards are offered in multiple levels and are designed to recognize each milestone of your service achievement. Levels include bronze, silver, gold and the highest honor, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime.

PRESIDENT'S LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more hours in their lifetime (모든 연령층 4,000 시간 이상 (누적 봉사시간))
Along with the ultimate honor of presidential recognition, recipients will receive a personalized certificate, an official pin, medallion or coin, a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States and a letter from the President of Points of Light and the CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
